Directorate

On 29 November, 2011, FISU announced Almaty as being the city to host the 28th World Winter Universiade in 2017. In this regard, the State Fund “Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate” was established.

The main objective and purpose of the Directorate is to fulfill the obligations of FISU for the purpose of successfully hosting the 28th Winter Universiade in Kazakhstan.

On June 14, 2016 Nail Nurov was appointed as a new Director for the SF “Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate”. Before heading the Organizing Directorate, he was the Head of the Physical Culture and Sport Department in Almaty.

Nail Nurov was born on May 21, 1967. He is a graduate of Kazakhstan Institute of Physical Culture in Almaty, Major – Teacher and Coach; Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Law Specialist.

In different years he worked as a Secretary of the Youth Association Committee of Kazakh Institute of Physical Culture, instructor of the Central Committee of Youth of Kazakhstan, Head of Depatment of international tourism organization “Sputnik” Central Committee of Kazakhstan. Also worked as a General Director of “Glavtour”, LLP “Nur”, President of JSC “Kazsportobespecheniye” of Kazakhstan Tourism and Sport Agency.

Nail Nurov also worked as a Director of the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace in Almaty, Director of “Medeu” High-Mountain Ice Rink, Head of the Almaty Department for Tourism and Sport, Head of the 7th Asian Games 2011 and Olympic Torch Relay, and the Director of the “Alau” Ice Palace in Astana.
