The Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic Games will be observing the Universiade

The cooperation between the Organizing Committees is a FISU policy
The representatives of Winter and Summer Universiades as well as the Winter Olympics will be observing the competitions in Almaty. FISU President Oleg Matytsin told this during a press conference in Almaty.
“I would like to mention the cooperation between the Organizing Committees of the Universiades, past and future ones. This is one of FISU policies. We always organize observer’s programs on Universiades. Today, the representatives of Krasnoyarsk, which will host the Universiade in 2019, are present in Almaty. For the first time, FISU and Almaty teams are actively cooperating following a mutual agreement. Krasnoyarsk representatives are working in the Organizing Committee to be able to understand the context. The observers of the Summer Universiade, which will take place this year in Taipei, are also in Almaty. The Organizing Commitees of the 2021 Universiade in Lucerne and the Pyeongchang Olympics are here. The mayor’s office of Lake Placid, which is interested in hosting the 2023 Universiade, is expected to arrive.”

Mr. Matytsin noted that the exchange of knowledge between the Organizing Committees is a useful practice.

“The transfer of knowledge and the formation of Organizing Committees are an investment in the future potential of the city and the country. This is one of the main objectives of FISU. I would like to thank the Universiade’s Organizing Committee for being open. We understand that from the moment a city applies to host the Universiade until it actually takes place a lot of time goes by. Many questions appear, and some hosts do not want to share their concerns. The Almaty Universiade has a distinguishable feature, which is positive and constructive cooperation with FISU and other Organizing Committees.”
