Almaty Akim Bauyrzhan Baibek has checked out the preparation of the metropolis's air habour for the Universiade 2017, the akim's press service reported.
The city mayor noted that the airport management has developed navigation within the building in the three languages, reduced luggage claim time, increased the number of desks for filling up declarations at the arrival halls, stepped up security measures and provided conditions for individuals with disabilities.
At the same time the akim drew the attention of the air harbour management to a number of factors that affect the service of the airport. Specifically, there are no signs on the service facilities, part of ATMs do not function, most of the premises have no POS terminals to handle non-cash payment and there are no price tags in the three languages on the whole product mix.
“Special attention has been paid to the low level of sanitary conditions at eateries, some of which were shut down before the city leadership arrived. Following the trip deputy akim Rumil Taufikov was assigned to have the shortcomings eliminated within the shortest period of time. Baibek also pointed out that based on the work done a media tour needs to be organised of the airport featuring mass media, bloggers and members of the Almaty Public Council,” said the report.
Up to 30,000 visitors are expected to attend the Universiade. Additional video surveillance cameras will be installed to enhance the security of passengers.
